Originating from San Francisco, California, DJ Franzen has been making monumental moves and breaking records since the early 90’s. Renowned for introducing the masses to Hip-Hop and R&B legends, Tupac (1991) SWV (1992), TLC (1992), The Notorious B.I.G. (1994), Jay Z (1996), E-40 (1991), Eminem (1998), Boyz II Men (1992), Drake (2007), The Dream (2007), Wiz Khalifa (2011) and a host of other chart-topping artist. Franzen’s DJ career began and has continuously consisted of him introducing listeners to legends in the making.
In 1990, Franzen’s early career took flight when he became an intern for Rosary (mid day 106.1 KMEL) and other radio hosts, including hip-hop’s most well known correspondent, Sway Calloway (currently of MTV & SIRIUS XM) at the young age of 14. This eventually led to him becoming an in-house DJ and on-air personality at the Bay Area radio station, 106.1 KMEL. With training and mentoring by radio legends, Franzen would soon become the host of his own radio show, which achieved the highest ratings in the stations history. In 1994, working alongside co-anchor Trace Dogg, he hosted the very popular, CMC (California Music Channel) Music Video Countdown Show. The independent video shows success was undeniable, winning various TV and Billboard awards across all genres, even beating out national competitors, MTV & BET. In late 2000, after ten years on radio in the Bay Area, Franzen left for Los Angeles to become co-host of Snoop Doggs nationally syndicated radio show reaching over 35 of the top markets in the US. In August 2001 he ventured to Las Vegas and took up residency at a developing station, Hot 97.5. He hosted & DJ’d the 3p - 7p time slot, and his ratings began to soar, ultimately becoming the highest rated afternoon show in Las Vegas. He has been awarded numerous gold and platinum plaques from every major record label in the business, and was even honored as the National Mixshow Power Summit’s West Coast DJ of the Year. In May 2015 he was presented with a key to the city of Las Vegas, and honored by the Board of Commissioners of Clark County naming May 28 as DJ Franzen day.
Franzen's love for music has allowed him grow with his audience, adapt to the constant changes in music and consistently deliver timeless DJ mixes. His passion has not only contributed to his twenty-plus years of success in music industry, but it’s also granted him the opportunity to build and solidify relationships with established artists such as Jay Z, Justin Bieber, Snoop Dogg, Dr Dre, Drake, Rick Ross, The Weeknd, the late Notorious B.I.G., Aaliyah, Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes and many more.
Currently, Franzen is a D'usse (Jay-Z’s cognac) Brand Ambassador, on-air DJ at Las Vegas’ Hot 97.5 every Friday, resident DJ at Drai's Nightclub (Las Vegas) as well as headlining various clubs throughout the US. He also continues to be “The DJ”, for doing Private / VIP suite parties for a long list of celebrities including, Drake, Floyd Mayweather, Chris Brown, Stephen Jackson, Justin Beiber and many more. He has also helped organize, host / DJ for various corporate clients including NIKE, Reebok, Shoe Palace, Hennesey, Ciroc vodka etc. He enjoys giving back to the community through doing various fund raisers and charity events including, Michael Jordan Golf Tournament, Kicks for Kids with Commissioner Lawrence Weekly, Holiday Food / Toy Drives and more. Beginning June 1, 2015 he can be heard on his own streamed radio show, Frandora Radio, airing on DASH Radio (largest digital radio broadcasting platform in the world), which is available in online and in mobile app stores.
